Advent Rising is a third-person-shooter Sci-Fi game written by the famous author, Orson Scott Card. It takes place in the far future when humanity has reached far across space in exploration. All intelligent races tell of a species that will “deliver” the universe. The race that was prophesized to save the universe was the humans. Presently there is a race known as the “seekers” that swept through the universe and dominating other species. These slaves were forced to live under seeker rule without any freedom. Gideon Wyeth, the main character, comes back to Earth after a space mission that has a vague description in the game. She discovers that the space station is right next to a parked alien vessel. Later on in the story players discovers that the Earth is destroyed by the seekers and you as the last hope for all that is living must seek revenge. The Aurelian race is a species that is constantly at war with the seekers and tired to save human kind from extinction. It is here in the Aurelian stronghold where the protagonist learns of the history of the seekers and what is the true purpose of humankind's existence. They teach the humans special mental powers that allow them to survive and battle with special powers that can be leveled up.

As stated before the graphics are amazing. The 3d character models and environments match the game's intense story line well. It is precisely what one would expect from a 3d Sci-Fi story. Animations of the Earth's destruction and giant warships battling in space are one of the reasons why this game is entertaining.

The game play is not so easy to learn as you must learn button combinations to shoot, use special maneuvers, run, jump and more. Not for the first time gamer, this shooter can get a bit complicated. The game freezes at times and may have periods where the voices are out of synch. Saving the game and restarting the system will repair this problem immediately.

Overall this is a very good game with tons of possibilities. To have a famous author write the script and storylines would change how gamers get involved in their games. Price wise it may be too high to purchase as new but as a pre-owned title this is definitely one to own in your collection.
