The highly anticipated handheld system, Nintendo DS Lite had hit the nation with a bang. This lightweight version of the original DS has added a little excitement to the growing population of handheld systems. Along with its slimming sleek looks, they have added a bit of color to their palette. The US will finally have access to Onyx and Coral Pink! And you won't have to wait and pay extra shipping for it!

The onyx system itself keeps to the simplistic design of the previous Lite. The Wi-Fi connectivity allows you to play with or against up to 8 people. The GBA cartridge slot has a unique cover allowing you to care for the system easier, should you want to play the older games. The microphone is in the center of the system, which helps especially with voice commands (ahem, Nintendogs). The dual screens have the ability to adjust up to four levels of brightness depending on your lighting conditions. The decent sized screens will help in the near future with the games that are heavily focused on the touch screens. With the system being 20% lighter, and the stylus being a bit larger, you won't have those annoying hand cramps. For those that often lose their stylus all together, yes, it comes with an extra one. They are each color coordinated so you won't have to worry about having something like Magenta with your Onyx, unless that was your intention.

My only curiosity regarding the system is the durability. Although it is stylishly sleek, I have to wonder, how long will it last? The hinges between the two screens feel a little on the weak side. The removable cover for the GBA slot feels a bit thin. I would advise people to be a little on the wary side of these two areas.

Overall, it is a well-made system. I am glad to see that the colored Lites are slowly trickling into the US. Sorry Sony, but I believe Nintendo has got you beat once again. The system is going for about $129.99. With all the games that are in the pipelines, I believe it is worth just about every cent!
