Need for Speed Most WantedReviewed by Leland Bonaparte
We all know EA is known for their sports games, and now they are doing the same in the racing franchise. When I started up NFSMW, the opening cut scene really blew me away. It started out like a mini-movie. The plot gets intense as they throw you in the action. You take on the 15th guy on the Blacklist. I figure my BMW could handle this small and simple task, but as faith would have it, I lost. It’s time to climb the Blacklist. The first thing you notice is the graphics. The cities and the backgrounds are beautifully done, and everything is pretty much destructible. Cars look real and will show minor damage on them. You even see drivers in the cars as they go screaming by. When it rains, you can see the raindrops and the shadows on the road when it’s wet. Hitting tollbooths will scatter coins everywhere, and also barrels will dish out water when hit. Using the controls is easy and feels really comfortable. A lot of times the controls will seem a little lose, but not on this; it solely depends on the car. Even when free roaming, the controls are easy. I was quite surprised at how the 360 controller responded. The music in the game was okay, though I would have liked to see some downloadable content on XBOX Live. Now the most important thing is the storyline, and it is a good one. Your sole purpose in is to reach the top of the Blacklist and earn the respect on the streets. You can achieve this by doing different things. First, the racers on the Blacklist won’t even race you until you get your rep up. You will have a series of races to win before they call you out. The fun part is the milestones. This is where you will have to deal with the cops. Certain milestones will require you to do different things. The cops will do everything in their power to arrest you. They will use roadblocks, spike strips, heavy SUVs, and helicopters. So listen to your scanner and beware of what is going on. They are also ways to evade the cops. Hiding spots will come in handy, also pursuit breakers and your safe house. Your map will be your best friend. As for pursuit breakers, there are buildings that you can level which will slow the cops down, or you can hit log trucks and car carriers. More Screenshots (click image to enlarge) :

The Need for Speed series is a very good and well liked. Even the online aspect is really that much but your basic racing, so it’s as entertaining as can be. The only thing I didn’t like about the series is that online you can’t risk your pink slips if you want to. You should be able to do so. But overall, this is a good game and I highly recommend it. See you until Carbon.
