Based on the anime series back in the late 1960's, the new Speed Racer is an action packed, hyper-addictive thrill ride. Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is a boy with one thing on his mind and that's racing. Being part of a family whose profession revolves around racing, Speed ends up following in his brother's footsteps and becomes one of the best racers ever to compete. After discovering a horrible secret it's up to Race and his family to literally work against the odds in order to beat an evil corporation from destroying his family's reputation and taking away what they love to do best. Rex became a victim to the evil corporation’s plans and Speed must now find a way to overcome the difficulties ahead of him and somehow pull through.

I chose to watch this movie in IMAX and boy did I make the right choice. This isn't your old-school Speed Racer; bad voice acting and way over dramatic scenes. This movie was a whole new rehash of the Speed Racer world. It's set either in an alternate future where everything is so colorful your eyes are not able to take the strain. At first I thought it was going to be a terrible remake of a show known by almost every kid who used to watch early morning cartoons, but I was completely wrong. This movie is filled with action to the brim. It was so fast paced and insane that at some points, I almost felt like I had to take a break before my brain melted. The racing scenes are insane, even though it's obviously CG it was still very well made. What I believe they wanted to was keep true to the original production while at the same time show much more action than what the show use to produce. The story is also surprising, having a plot that’s actually pretty good. Nothing really different per say, but it was good enough to stick with what the old show had to do with. All the characters are pretty much there, and the Mach 5 has everything it's supposed to have, with a little twist at the end of the movie. The movie was an adrenaline rush all the way till the last 20 minutes, which I can only explain as an explosion of intensity and energy, because it had my pupils dilating from how crazy it was.

I give the new Speed Racer a High-Evolution factor. It was nothing like I expected. It was beyond comprehension and usually that means it broke factors that no one could really see coming. It's a fantastic movie and the good thing about it is it's a family film that everyone can easily enjoy. Ladies and gentleman, start your engines! Careful though, you may be prone to seizures after this movie due to high intensity lighting and color!
