That daring-do Detective Dick Tracy, turns an amazing 75, and Classic Media puts out a fun-filled collection of the beloved cartoon series featuring the hero and a cast of friends, lovers, villains, and Crimestopper Tips!

The cartoons are adorable, frankly. Done in what is now considered an old-fashioned style, as we're all used to CGI and Pixar and such, the cartoons bring across a gritty feel of working the beat streets as a cop.

Bear in mind, the series is considerably older and therefore nowhere near what is now considered politically correct. With friends like the asian Joe Jitsu, the bumbling but well-meaning Irish cop Heap O'Callory, the whole group of incident-prone cops known as the Retouchables and such; you are required to remember this is a cartoon put out some time ago, when such stereotypes were meant to amuse younger generations, but warn them too. Bear in mind, no matter what it might look like to you, those categorized men are part of the police force , and therefore it's sort of a compliment too. The villains, such as Pruneface, Mumbles, Flattop and such, are just as stereotyped, but hey, they're villains, who cares right?

Take your notions of PC-ism and toss it, these cartoons are wonderfully dorky and fun to watch. Dick Tracy and his pals really are heroes, if for no other reason than surviving as icons this long.
