Searching for a delectable snack in the local Japanese market, I came upon a section of thin, slender breadsticks in a variety of flavors. The stocker noticed my curiosity and offered a taste of some breadsticks that were sprinkled with a garlicky pepper coating. They were remarkably tasty and full of flavor. These snacks, affectionately referred to as “Pretz” are inexpensive and come in a multitude of flavors.

Yielding to my curiosity, I looked on the internet to see what varieties were available for purchase. The first thing I learned was the difference between the “Pretz” brand and “Pocky”. “Pocky” is the unflavored breadstick dipped in some coating (usually chocolate). “Pretz” is the breadstick that is flavored with some seasoning and is never coated.

The flavors available are:

Tomato
Lemon Pepper
Giant Apple Pretz
Corn Pretz
Butter Pretz
Plain Pretz
Pizza
Giant Tomato
Eel
Maple Pretz with Butter
Ebi (grilled shrimp)
Honey & Butter
Pretz with Hokkaido Butter
Honey Mustard
Kuro Goma(Black Sesame)
Tomato Pretz with Lemon Spice
Potato Pretz with Cheese
Pretz Hachimitsu (Honey)
Chocolate
Salad Pretz
Giant Ebi (Shrimp) Chili Pretz

The company is continually releasing new and interesting flavors and exporting abroad.

Versatile! You can use this with anything… Desserts, Appetizers, Snacks, Dinner!!! The flavors just keep on coming from this international food manufacturer. Who knows? Ice cream flavored Pretz will be the hottest snack on the market! The bread sticks themselves are so light and thin that they won't kill your appetite either.
