XS Energy Drink : Tropical Blast

XS Energy drink screams in bright colors, trying to nudge its way into a crowded market of beverages which claim to allow the drinker to stay awake for increased hours. This particular brand hopes that those who enjoy these drinks are also heath conscious individuals. The tall aluminum can boasts an impressively low eight calories, as well as 0 carbs, 0 sugars, and no caffeine. The energy jolt comes from a large dose of vitamin B12 and a bit of ginseng. The beverage comes in a myriad flavors including Citrus Blast, Cherry Blast, Electric Lemon Blast, Tropical Blast, Cranberry-Grape Blast, Tea Berry Blast and Root Beer.

The XS drink provides a nice departure from the glut of chemically enhanced alternatives on the market. Those watching their calories, sugar, and/or carbohydrate intake levels will enjoy the boost of energy without the diet-destroying effects of a “venti frapp.” However, the drinks have a strong artificial sugar aftertaste which makes the overall taste similar to fruit flavored water. The root beer flavor worked best, nearly capturing the familiar flavor. Without any caffeine, the stimulating property of the beverage seems mild but might be able to provide enough of a jolt to finish the last page of an essay or get to the next level in a first person shooter.

While the XS drink might find a nice measure of success catering towards health minded consumers who distrust the chemical content of other energy drinks, the taste must be improved for the beverage to make strides against the competition. The can design catches the eye with vibrant colors and easily digestible nutritional statistics.
