When I first heard about Ramune from a Japanese newsletter, I knew I had to check it out for myself. To open the beverage, you put a little stopper over the mouth of the drink, push down, and a glass ball falls into the upper chamber of the drink. While you are drinking you need to be careful of this little ball, or it will plug up the hole at the top and you won't be able to drink (or you may get squirted with a little Ramune). There is a special way to drink Ramune, and it makes for a fun task for hyper-active kids.

The carbonation in Ramune is lighter than most American soft drinks, so it goes down easy. It comes in original flavor (kind of a mix of fruits), strawberry, peach, lemonade, orange, melon and a special Hello Kitty bottle.

This drink has a unique flavor and is surprisingly addictive, especially when you have a slight sugar craving. Perhaps this could be the next big drink in America ? We'll see...
