On the stylish red can with black flames, the Jones Company states, “the last thing that the world needs is another energy drink, so here's one more.” As it turns out, the oxymoronic slogan defines this beverage which combines attributes of many other energy drinks. Yellow with a slightly medicinal taste? Check. Extreme can design? Check. Sugar Free and Extra Strength varieties? Check.

I must admit, the extra strength drink tastes pretty decent, with a nice level of carbonation and a relatively low cough syrup factor. The sugar free version also goes down smoothly and only has a little artificial aftertaste. The larger 16oz. can is a mixed blessing depending on if you like the taste of energy drinks or view them as a necessary evil. Jones also makes Orange , Lemon-Lime, and Mixed Berry drinks in 8.4oz. cans, which although unavailable for review, may be more imaginative.

Although this drink blends the best loved features of many other energy drinks into an appealing package, nothing really stands out about this beverage. From a company who makes innovative sodas like turkey and gravy or green bean, the originality leaves something to be desired. Although, I might purchase this drink on a whim, nothing about it would compel me to consistently choose it over other brands.
