99 Degrees Energy DrinkReviewed by Andrea Steffy
With a syrupy and excessively sweet cherry taste, I wondered if I had gotten cough syrup in disguise. I felt under whelmed by the experience. 99 Degrees is not a complete failure, I feel certain that a majority of consumers out there would continue to purchase this item. However, if given a choice between 99 Degrees and a few other energy drinks, I think I would choose the competition hands down. 99 Degrees is soda with a buzz. It has a one up on coffee because it’s not as acidic on one’s stomach as coffee can be, but that's not enough of a reason for me to want to drink it. I'll admit, 99 Degrees is not the most horrific thing that my poor, unsuspecting mouth has encountered, but definitely not the best. The company “Who's your daddy” claims to be the king of energy drinks. I think that's quite a feat to claim, and a very bold statement to make. I am not quite sure I can agree with that statement though. By the year 2001, the energy drink market had grown to nearly $400 million per year in retail sales, and that's when things really started taking off. Currently there are over 200 energy drinks on the market to choose from.

I think the competition stands a better chance at prevailing over time. 99 Degrees is coming to you in a large 16 oz (473 ml) (1 PT) can, which would equal out to about 2 servings. With 110 calories, and 29g of sugar, it sounds more like a soda to me. After all, isn’t that basically what all these energy drinks really are? 99 Degrees is worth trying if you like energy drinks.
