This is the comic book version of the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter which has now sold over six million copies in sixteen different languages.  At an approximate ratio of 40 pages of novel to 28 pages of comic book, this series is going to continue for quite a while.  I’ve acquired Volumes 1-6, and they read very quickly and very well.

The artwork by Brett Booth is rather premium and the adaptation of story line between the novel and comic book is pretty good, but at times I am a little lost in the uneven jerks between characters and scenes.  The drawing has a significant beefcake factor, but that was inevitable given the plotlines of Ms. Hamilton’s stories.  Anita comes off as being mostly tough, with the occasional soft spot that is usually disguised with a bit of sneer.

I’m looking forward to seeing how well it flows when bound together into a hardback volume, making it closer to a graphic novel than a comic book.

I want to see just how this series sets up as the story gets more involved with the original story line.  There are many parts of it that will not be “comic code” friendly.
