While exploring through ancient ruins, the gateway to the realms of demons and gods was opened. Now humans, demons, and gods all live together in one world sharing their everyday lives. Tsuchimi Rin is a high school student who attends National Verbena Academy; he lives alone with his childhood friend Fuyo Kaeda. Rin’s daily life consists of being constantly chased by the Kaeda school protection group, the Kitto Kitto Kaeda Chan, getting lectured by his teacher, and having to deal with protecting Kaeda from his annoying and hormonal friend. One day Rin's school is visited by the rulers of the god and demon realms and both of them seem interested in Rin. After a quick evaluation, it the rulers decide that Rin is the perfect choice to marry their daughters, Sia and Nerine. It’s soon discovered that Rin had met both Sia and Nerine when they were younger and they never forgot him. Now Rin has a huge decision to make: Will he stay a regular human or will he marry Sia or Nerine and become the king of gods or demons? The characters you see aren’t like the regular ones you see in a high school love-drama anime. The situation that Rin is constantly being put into is what made this anime funny. The storyline was really good but still predictable, and I think the best thing about this anime was the ending. The girl that Rin chooses to go out with towards the end was really what caught me off guard.

I gave Shuffle a medium-high Evolution Factor, as I did enjoy the story and the characters were funny, but the rest of the anime seemed the same as any other high school drama anime that I’ve seen. As I said earlier, the only part that of this anime that took me by surprise was at the end of it. Shuffle runs for a good long 24 episodes and also has an OVA called Shuffle Memories, which is really just a recap of what happened in Shuffle, but only set ten years into the future.
