Midori no Hibi (Midori Days)Reviewed by Tuan Vo
Sawamura Seiji, a punk high school student who had earned the name of the Mad Dog with the Devil's Right Hand, has never had a girlfriend in his life. Kasugano Midori is the daughter of a very rich family who has a crush on Sawamura. Seems like a plot for a bad soap opera? Well what if I said that Midori is Sawamura's right hand. Confused? So was I, when I read the premise of the manga. Midori no Hibi or roughly translated, My days with Midori (I could be way off on this) tells the story of Sawamura who in his whole life has never had a girlfriend. Then one day, when he practically loses all hope of finding one, his right hand turns into Midori, a girl who apparently loves him from afar. Now Sawamura not only has to find a way to get back his right hand, but to make it seem like everything is normal. When I was first introduced to Midori no Hibi , I hesitated a little before picking it up. This was mostly due to the bizarre concept. But the moment I read the first chapter, I was instantly hooked. The way the author captures the emotions of Sawamura is hilarious to how everyone interacts around him is nicely done. The drawling quality is very nice. They seem to capture the character's emotion quite well. The character does seem to fit the character's designs though my only complaint is that they would be more original with Sawamura. The whole blond dyed hair to fit the social bad boy is a bit overused in my opinion. What is nice about this anime is that it already been converted to a series. Though I am a bit disappointed with how short it was, being only 13 episodes. You still get the gist of the story. But to truly appreciate the story, you have to read the manga for there is still so much events that happens that the creators omitted from the series. Storyline: 9/10 So overall, it is something to worth reading. But if you do not have the time then watching the anime is okay. Though you would miss a lot of the side stories and characters, you still get the same storyline if you were to read the manga. |
